Geometry of Shallow Foundation (consolidation settlement)
Tips
This tool is for calculating consolidation settlement of the caly layer below the center point of the shallow foundation, as shown in the figure above.
The theory of one-dimensional consolidation settlement is adopted in the calculation.
Only the primary consolidation settlement is considered in the calculation.
σ′_{c} is preconsolidation pressure. If the "normally consolidated state" is given for clay with unkown of σ′_{c}, users can just input "0". For overconsolidated clay and from overconsolidated to normally consolidated clay, users should input corresponding real value.
σ′_{z0} is the stress in soil at the middle of the clay layer.
Before calculation, please choose a method used for obtaining averaged vertical stress increment of the clay layer.
All the input parameters should be positive.
The unit weight of water is 9.8 kN/m^{3}.
For "nan", "0" or "inf" displayed in Results, please check your input parameters.
