Braced Cut Tool (structure design)

Tips

• This tool is for evaluating braced cut structure design with three struts in uniform soil layer, as shown in the figure above.
• Only three struts are considered in this case, and the position of struts at level B should be in the central part of the braced cut (0.25H-0.75H).
• If strut load P_B and section modulus for wales S_wB displayed in Results are negative, the design may need optimization (smaller h₁ or h₄).
• Depending on the input parameters, the soil will be considered as different types (sand, soft clay, stiff clay), and the figures of pressure envelope are different accordingly.
• All the input parameters should be positive.
• For "nan", "0" or "inf" displayed in Results, please check your input parameters.
